Meal Time Assistant

Overview

Monday – Friday, Term Time, 11am to 2pm

We are looking for a mealtime assistant to join our friendly team at The Windmill School. We are seeking individuals who are committed to providing positive lunchtime experiences for our students at this day school for autistic children and young people. The successful applicant will have a keen interest in working with autistic children and will be responsible for supervising pupils during our lunch period and supporting the Kitchen Manager with the lunch service and clean-up. You will work closely with teaching and support staff to provide safe, interactive, social experiences for our young people. 

The position will involve some of the following duties:

  • Interacting with students and providing opportunities for positive social communication.
  • Working closely with the staff team to report any first aid or safeguarding concerns.
  • Working within our school dining hall to maintain a clean and safe environment and ensure that the dining rooms are cleaned thoroughly at the end of each service.
  • Supporting students with personal care when required.
  • Supervising outdoor areas in all weathers.
  • Supporting lunchtime activities in open classrooms as and when needed

Personal attributes

A kind and patient approach to working with children and young people with social and communication difficulties is essential as well as the ability to model positive interactions. 

Salary & Benefits

Salary from £10,010 to £10,360 per year for 3 hours per day, 15 hours per week, term time only (39 weeks)
